                            A Lost Generation

Who are we?
Rootless trees -
A lost generation,
On a perilous sea,
Of uncertainty,
Ambiguity,
Futility.

Meaningless, meaningless,
Utterly meaningless,
Utterly feeling-less,
Utterly lost.

Over-stimulated,
Shockingly desensitised;
Technologically connected,
Yet connected to none;
A soul adrift on the waters of life,
With no anchor to give it rest,
No compass to give it direction,
No captain to guide the ship;

Bruised and battered by the breakers,
Taking on water and lost at sea,
Sending out an S.O.S.,
Searching the skies for help,
Flying the white flag at half mast,
Mourning our own loss.
