                                 Snakes In The Water

Don't forget how this started;
The waters they quickened,
And rains brought the floods;

The river was muddied,
And our hands were bloodied,
With nowhere to run;

And the rains came down,
And the floods came up;
We were left on sinking sand; (x2)

I held fast to the branches,
Swinging suspended,
The current below;

And there in the water,
Beautifully colored,
The serpents did glow;

And the rains came down,
And the floods came up;
We were left on sinking sand; (x2)
There are snakes in the water;
There are snakes in the water;
There are snakes in the water;
Swimming below;

Oh can't you see them;
Beautifully colored,
Dancing in circles,
Just below your toes;

Then two hands descended,
Plunged into the water,
Sweeping the mire;

And held fast in His fingers,
Were thousands of adders,
All thrown in the fire;

And the rains came down,
And the floods came up;
We were left on sinking sand (x2).
